Request ATC Training

In order to be considered for becoming a controller, you must:

  • Hold a valid VATSIM account.
  • Familiar with VATSIM rules and regulations.
  • Be fluent in English.
  • Be prepared for long-term commitment.
  • Basic aviation knowledge.

Application Process (READ BEFORE APPLYING)

All applications will be processed through the VATSEA HQ ticketing system. To apply, please follow the steps below:

  1. Click on the following link to access the VATSEA HQ ticketing system (https://hq.vat-sea.com/support/list). You will be prompted to log in to VATSIM Southeast Asia HQ using your VATSIM CID.
  2. Create a support ticket directed to "Hong Kong vACC Staff".
  3. Provide the necessary information according to your controller status.

For RESIDENT CONTROLLER (S1 Only)

  1. Confirm you meet all the essential criteria above.
  2. Make sure that your home region is VATSIM Asia Pacific and your home division is VATSIM Southeast Asia.
  3. Complete the ICAO English Test in our Moodle. (academy.vathk.com)
  4. ONCE PASSED, create a support ticket with the subject "Resident Controller Application - (Your Name, VATSIM ID)".
  • Provide a self-introduction.
  • Time zone of residence.
  • Do you have any aviation background?
  • Why are you interested in becoming a controller?
  • What made you choose our subdivision?
  • Any other information that you would like to provide that will support your application.
  1. Applications without sufficient effort may be automatically rejected. Therefore, ensure that you provide comprehensive and well-thought-out responses in your ticket. Put effort into presenting yourself and your qualifications effectively to increase your chances of a successful application.
  2. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate an interview session in ENGLISH.

For RESIDENT CONTROLLER (S2 or above)

  1. Confirm that you meet all the essential criteria stated in the Training Syllabus.
  2. Create a ticket with subject "Resident Controller Application - (Your Name, VATSIM ID, Rating of request)"
  3. Applications without sufficient information may be automatically rejected.

For VISITING CONTROLLER (S3 or above)

  1. Confirm you meet all the essential criteria above.
  2. Request a brief recommendation letter from your vACC/ARTCC/Division Director or your Training Director stating you are in a good standing within your home facility. This letter should be sent to a.lee@vathk.com prior to submitting your application.
  3. Complete the ICAO English Test in our Moodle. (<academy.vathk.com>)
  4. ONCE PASSED, create a ticket with subject "Visiting Controller Application - (Your Name, Your Rating, VATSIM ID)".
  • Provide a self-introduction.
  • Time zone of residence.
  • What made you choose our subdivision?
  • Are you familiar with Hong Kong airspace? If so, elaborate.
  • How much time are you willing to commit per month?
  • Any other information that you would like to provide that will support your application.
